Introduction

About Us

ANU is Australia’s national university with a global reputation in international, constitutional, public and private law. ANU is ranked 12th in the world for the study of law (QS World Rankings by Subject, 2018).

Across undergraduate, postgraduate and research degrees, ANU Law School provides students with a unique understanding of current law, practice and policy. The teaching approach combines academic rigour with practical expertise. Students learn from academics and guest lecturers with real-world professional experience. Small class sizes provide increased opportunities for students to interact and engage with academic staff, visiting guest speakers and other students.

Throughout the year, ANU Law School runs masterclasses taught by leading legal practitioners from Australia and around the world. Past masterclasses have been taught by current and former Justices of the High Court of Australia, the Chief General Counsel at the Australian Government Solicitor, and the Global Director for Client & Market Development at multinational law firm Clifford Chance LLP.

The University offers a range of clinical courses and legal internship opportunities in Australia, Asia, the United Kingdom and the United States to allow students to put their legal knowledge into action and gain real-world professional experience during their legal education.

ANU has an enviable research profile with many of its academic staff recognised as leaders in their fields and a highly connected network of over 20,000 law alumni around the world, including lawyers, judges, diplomats, politicians, chief executives, investment bankers, management consultants, policy analysts, scholars and leaders of global firms.
