JD Programs in Family Law in North America 2020

A Juris Doctor degree, also known as a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree, allows a degree holder to practice corporate law, criminal law or family law, among other areas, after two to four years of law school and passing a bar examination.

Students in family law programs can receive instruction in child protection, matrimonial issues and dispute resolution. Thorough study allows students to practice in divorce proceedings, which often include custody and property distribution negotiations. Students may also play a role in child welfare cases.
